Authority activates Winter Weather Plan ahead of deep freeze and heavy snow
As the region braces for some of the coldest temperatures in years over the next few days, DC Water is monitoring conditions, mobilizing equipment, and preparing repair crews to respond to service disruptions.

All DC Water customers in the impact area under the boil water advisory can use tap water for all purposes after following the instructions provided below.

Boil Water Advisory remains in place for customers in several District neighborhoods impacted by loss of pressure early Tuesday.

Sidewalk Closure on V Street NW between 1st St Street NW and Flagler Pl NW
On Monday, December 2, DC Water, in coordination with the District Department of Transportation (DDOT), implemented an emergency sidewalk closure on V St NW between First St NW and Flagler Pl NW to conduct an emergency repair on a 79-inch (6.5 foot) sewer main line.

Overnight, on Monday, December 2, through early morning on Tuesday, December 3, Gresham Place Northwest and part of Fifth Street Northwest will be closed to allow DC Water to conduct underground surveys in the area.
For more than two weeks, DC Water’s team deployed to Asheville, North Carolina, to help the local water utility navigate recovery efforts following the devastating flooding caused by the remnants of Hurricane Helene. The team returned to DC and after a brief respite is back at work with lessons learned from their experience.
DC Water will open West Potomac Park Drive SW, a new road constructed as a part of the Potomac River Tunnel (PRT) Project, on Monday, November 18, 2024. West Potomac Park Drive will connect the partially closed Ohio Drive SW to a new traffic-signaled intersection at Independence Avenue SW and provides three lanes of traffic and sidewalks.
