Payment Options
  • Payment Options: 

    You can register or pay online using your credit card, checking for a one-time payment. Additionally, you have the option to set up recurring payments with these methods. Please note that there is a processing fee for all payments made by credit/debit card: $1.95 per transaction for residential customers (2.65% for non-residential accounts). E-Check payments from a checking or savings account will continue to be accepted at no additional charge.

  • Check or Money Order:

    Mail a check or money order to DC Water in the envelope enclosed with your printed bill. To avoid late fees, please allow a minimum of 4 business days before your due date for your payments to reach us by mail. Payments can be mailed to:

  • Automatic Bill Payment:

    DC Water offers automatic bill payment through Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT), which automatically deducts money from your checking or savings account. You will still receive an itemized statement, but you won't have to write checks. Sign up for this option at My DC Water under the "Pay my Bill" option. Check Paperless Billing to see how easy it is to register for before you get started.

  • Credit Card: 

    DC Water accepts credit card payments from Visa, Mastercard, Discover and AMEX. You can pay online at My DC Water or call 202-354-3600, 24 Hours a day. 

  • Cash payments in person:

    You can pay bill in person various Western Union locations. Please visit, How to pay your DC Water bill in person.

    • Payment Locations
      • DC Water customers can pay their bills in person, at no charge, at Western Union Agent locations.  You may visit Western Union's website for a complete listing of participating locations.
      • Payments may be made with cash only at most locations. Some locations may accept debit card transactions.
      • Provide the clerk at the Western Union location with the following information:
        • Payment type
        • Last name, first name
        • Payment amount
  • If you are experiencing financial hardship and require assistance, please visit Customer Assistance Programs.

Keep your receipt as proof of payment. You can track your payment using the MTCN (money transfer control number) on your receipt.

DC Water Officials with NPS and ANC commissioners doing ceremonial groundbreaking
DC Water Breaks Ground on Piney Branch Tunnel, Final Phase of DC Clean Rivers Project

Today, DC Water broke ground on the Piney Branch Tunnel, the final major tunnel in our Clean Rivers Project. This work will help keep sewage and trash out of local waterways and make Rock Creek, the Potomac River, and the Chesapeake Bay cleaner for our community.

When we finish the Piney Branch Tunnel, it will hold at least 4.2 million gallons of rainwater and wastewater during heavy storms. Instead of overflowing into Piney Branch, that water will go to the Blue Plains Water Resource Recovery Facility, where it will be treated.

Customer Service Center Announcement
