Residential Leak Assessment & Repair

Save Water. Save Money. Get Repairs at No Cost!

Welcome to DC Water’s Residential Leak Assessment and Repair Assistance Programs (RLAAP & RLRAP). These programs help eligible customers identify and fix household leaks, reducing high water bills and preventing unnecessary water waste.

How It Works

  1. Leak Alert Notification – If you're enrolled in CAP+, CAP1, or CAP2 and receive a High Usage (HUNA) or Consecutive Usage (CUNA) alert, we'll contact you about a free leak assessment.
  2. Licensed Plumber Inspection – With your approval and a signed Right of Entry form, a licensed plumber will inspect common problem areas like toilets, faucets, and outdoor spigots.
  3. Detailed Leak Report – You'll receive a full checklist outlining any leaks found.
  4. Free Repair Assistance – If funds are available, we'll connect you with a Residential Leak Repair Assistance Program (RLRAP)-approved plumber to make the necessary repairs—at no cost to you!

Who Is Eligible?

You qualify if you:

  • Are enrolled in CAP+, CAP1, or CAP2
  • Have received a High Usage (HUNA) or Consecutive Usage (CUNA) alert from DC Water

Why It Matters

Did you know a single dripping faucet can waste over 3,000 gallons of water a year? Small leaks can add up quickly, leading to unexpectedly high bills. Fixing leaks promptly helps you:

  • Save money on your water bill
  • Prevent unnecessary water waste
  • Protect your home from potential damage

DC Water Cares

DC Water is committed to helping our customers manage water costs and conserve resources. Through our partnership with the District Government, we cover eligible repair costs so you don’t have to.
