CEO/GM Gadis addresses Stakeholder Alliance

The DC Water Stakeholder Alliance, a community advisory group, is coming together for a new term, with a new sense of urgency and a new slate of members to help address major issues impacting the Authority and our community. The panel includes individual District residents, elected officials, community organizations and business leaders with an array of expertise and interests.

Remaining lane closures to continue 22nd St NW from Massachusetts Ave to P St and Florida Ave NW

Repairs are progressing on a nine-foot sewer tunnel that has closed a section of 22nd St NW since early July, allowing DC Water and its contractor to reopen one northbound lane of this key corridor to vehicular traffic. Emergency repairs are expected to continue for another six months.

Helicopters used to drop off workers and drilling equipment mid-river

It’s not every day you see a helicopter carry a 14-ton drill rig and workers dangling mid-air over the Potomac River but if you are around Great Falls you might catch a glimpse this week. Today, DC Water began drilling for rock core samples to evaluate options for rehabilitating a sewer line across the Potomac.

DC CLEAN RIVERS - POTOMAC RIVER TUNNEL PROJECT

DC Water will begin mobilizing a construction site at Rock Creek and Potomac Parkway NW impacting pedestrian and vehicle traffic. The site setup, part of the Authority's Potomac River Tunnel Project, will require temporary lane closures and restrict access to a section of Rock Creek Trail.

DC Water is celebrating a milestone appointment with this week’s swearing in of Dr. Unique N. Morris-Hughes as the new chair of the DC Water Board of Directors. This marks the first time a woman holds the position as the permanent Board Chair for the Authority.

DC CLEAN RIVERS - POTOMAC RIVER TUNNEL PROJECT

DC Water will implement temporary traffic lane closures, trail detours, and parking restrictions on K Street Northwest between Potomac Street Northwest and 33rd Street Northwest as part of the Potomac River Tunnel Project. Crews will begin identifying underground utilities during the week of January 13, 2025.

Authority activates Winter Weather Plan ahead of deep freeze and heavy snow

DC Water has activated its Winter Weather Plan as a winter storm is expected to bring as much as a foot of snow and ice to the region. Temperatures have already plunged, with prolonged temperatures below freezing putting pipes in your home in jeopardy of freezing.

As the region braces for some of the coldest temperatures in years over the next few days, DC Water is monitoring conditions, mobilizing equipment, and preparing repair crews to respond to service disruptions.
