Crews are preparing to return flow to the Potomac Interceptor as we reach the final steps to meet the mid-March target to complete emergency repairs. Work to reinforce the pipe upstream and downstream of the collapse site is complete, ensuring structural integrity. A CCTV inspection will take place to verify the pipe is ready before any flow is reintroduced. Flow will return gradually by lifting the bulkhead gate in phases, and the bypass pumps will be removed from service as the system stabilizes. Once emergency repairs are complete, long-term rehabilitation of this section of the sewer line will begin using the sections of the pipe already open.
