Rehabilitation of Creekbed Sewers

Project Areas

Through this project, DC Water will rehabilitate aging sewer infrastructure within various parks managed by Rock Creek Park within Northwest DC. DC Water has determined that assets within these areas have exceeded its design life and is in need of rehabilitation, while limiting disturbances to park resources.

DC Water is preparing to conduct initial field studies that will include, but not limited to manhole and pipeline inspections, environmental and topographic surveys and investigations, and stream reconnaissance. These studies will help identify environmental resources of concern, sewer assets and stream portions that need to be rehabilitated and/or addressed.

More detailed information on the four project areas included in this program and planned work can be found in each area’s respective project link below:

Anticipated Schedule

  • Environmental Field Surveys and Inspections – Winter 2024 to Spring 2026
  • Design Development and NEPA Compliance – To be determined
  • Construction – To be determined
