Dr. Rabia M. Chaudhry, PE

Director, Water Supply Resilience

Dr. Rabia Chaudhry serves as the Authority’s Director of Water Supply Resilience. In this role, she provides leadership, strategy, and coordination for establishing a new functional area of the Authority related to water supply resilience, and establishing a secondary source of drinking water for the Washington region. 

Dr. Chaudhry came to DC Water from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), where she served for four years, including tenure as the National Water Reuse Expert, for the EPA’s Water Reuse program. Her leadership experience at the EPA includes driving the creation of a new branch within the EPA’s Office of Groundwater and Drinking Water to manage more than $1 billion in grant funding.

Prior to her tenure at EPA, Dr. Chaudhry served for six years with the Millenium Challenge Corporation. She was promoted twice with steadily growing roles and duties, concluding her service there as the Associate Director for the Department of Policy and Education.

Dr. Chaudhry holds a Ph.D. and a master’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley, both in Civil and Environmental Engineering, and holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Scaffolding Installation Begins near Watergate Complex for Potomac River Tunnel Project

Rock Creek and Potomac Parkway NW Beginning September 23, 2025, to Mid-November 2025

DC Water is installing temporary scaffolding at the Rock Creek Trail site, west of the Watergate Complex. Trail users are advised to adhere to flagger instructions during installation.

Scaffolding installation is expected to be completed by September 26, 2025, and will remain in place until mid-November 2025.
