Approved Fiscal Year 2021-2022 Priority Project List / Intended Use Plan

Following review and consideration of public input during a 30-day public comment period, EPA approves the IUP and PPL of drinking water projects that are eligible to receive federal funding under Section 1452 of the Safe Drinking Water Act.

EPA announced the availability of the IUP and PPL for public comment on April 23, 2021 via our website.  EPA also sent an email to each of the Advisory Neighborhood Commissions as well as the DC Mayor’s office, Congresswoman Norton’s office, the DC Council, and relevant city agencies.

The funding for the proposed projects identified in the IUP and PPL will be awarded as grants to assist the District of Columbia in updating and improving drinking water infrastructure.  The PPL presents the long-term strategy, while the IUP is focused on how funds will be expended in the immediate future during FYs 2021 and 2022.  Projects were rated on their contribution to public health, compliance with regulatory standards, and maintaining drinking water reliability, safety, and environmental protection.

The universe of projects identified in the approved IUP that may be submitted for federal grant funding is shown in the following table.
