Update on sewer repairs on 17th Street, NW

January 29, 2019

DC Water and its contractors continue to make repairs at 17th and D Streets, NW. The following road closures are still in effect:

  • 17th Street, between C and E Streets, NW; and
  • D Street, between 17th and 18th Streets, NW

The damage was more extensive than expected; however, DC Water and contractor crews have made significant progress. Over the weekend, crews assessed the damage and cleaned out debris from the pipes, and engineers planned the repairs which began Sunday. The sewer line repairs were completed yesterday and restoration work has begun.

There are several steps left before the road can be restored and weather may be a factor. Road restoration might begin as early as this weekend or next week.

DC Water will provide updates. The intersection remains closed to vehicular traffic at this time.
