Potomac River Tunnel Project Community Day
DC Water invites you to explore one of the District's largest infrastructure projects during Potomac River Tunnel Community Day at the West Potomac Park construction site.
Experience the project up close with guided site tours, opportunities to see and touch construction equipment, and family-friendly activities for all ages. Guests may also pre-register for an underground tour with access to the tunnel.
The Potomac River Tunnel (PRT) is a 5.5-mile tunnel that will help reduce the mixture of stormwater and sewage overflows to the Potomac River from the Lincoln Memorial area to Georgetown, improving water quality and protecting the environment. The tunnel will begin operating in 2030.
