Closure Information for the Week of April 3, 2017

(Washington, DC) – DC Water is performing construction activities as a part of the Large Valve Replacement Project for Canal Road, NW and Foxhall Road, NW.

This project will result in road closure at this intersection beginning Monday, April 3, 2017 through Friday, May 26, 2017, weather permitting. Traffic will be detoured during the closure of Canal Road, NW to allow for the installations of the new valve.

Important Information:

  • Closures will occur on the eastbound lanes of Canal Road, NW at Foxhall Road, NW with a detour of traffic around MacArthur Boulevard, Reservoir Road and Wisconsin Avenue. These detours will be in effect from 7:00pm to 5:00am the following day.
  • Temporary traffic signs will be set up throughout the area to alert motorists of the upcoming closure.
  • Some traffic delays within the vicinity of the work zones are anticipated.
  • Noise levels will be closely monitored during construction.

Project Details

DC Water is replacing large diameter valves at various locations throughout the city as part of its Capital Improvement Program to improve the water system infrastructure. These efforts will improve water quality and system reliability, increase water pressure in some areas, and maintain adequate flows throughout the system.
