Oluseyi Olugbenle

As Deputy Director of the Department of Public Works and Transportation, Oluseyi Olugbenle supports the Director in managing a department comprising 450 employees across six offices: the Office of the Director, Office of Highway Maintenance, Office of Transportation, and Office of Administrative Services.

She supervises all transit services, including fixed-route, paratransit, micro-transit, shared mobility, planning and design, transit fleet and facilities, as well as taxi operations. She leads the development and execution of the Capital Improvement Program, which consists of more than 50 projects valued at approximately $1.6 billion. Additionally, Ms. Olugbenle directs roadway infrastructure and maintenance operations to ensure a safe, efficient, and clean transportation network encompassing bridges, sidewalks, bicycle paths, and over 2,000 miles of county roads.

Her oversight extends to internal infrastructure and support functions such as human resources, administration of an annual $40 million operating budget, management of union agreements, procurement processes, and service and capital contract administration in compliance with County laws and policies. She also coordinates stormwater drainage system maintenance, flood control measures, and contingency planning for the County. Furthermore, she has initiated record-setting maintenance3 programs that have significantly reduced littering and enhanced mowing and street sweeping on county roadways and residential streets.

Major Milestone Paves Way for Potomac River Tunnel Construction at the Site

DC Water has completed its slope stabilization project along Canal Road, a critical step in order to move forward with construction for the Potomac River Tunnel Project. Originally scheduled to end in February, the project finished about two months ahead of schedule, minimizing additional impacts to commuters and residents.
