TRAFFIC ADVISORY: Delays Expected on Clara Barton Parkway for Sewer Project at Maryland-DC Border, Oct 22-23

October 21, 2026
map of lane closure on Clara Barton Parkway at the DC/Maryland Line

Drivers should expect delays on Clara Barton Parkway at the Maryland – DC border on October 22 and 23, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. During this time, one lane will be closed to allow DC Water to safely deliver equipment to the Potomac Interceptor project site in preparation for the upcoming sliplining work.

The remaining lane will stay open, with flaggers directing traffic in alternating directions. Drivers should slow down, watch for signs, and follow the direction of crews in the work zone.

The equipment delivery is necessary to complete the rehabilitation of about 400 linear feet of pipe in this area. During sliplining, new pipe sections will be inserted into the existing pipe to create a new, stronger pipe within the old one.

This section of the pipe was identified as part of a new, ongoing effort to inspect the 54-mile Potomac Interceptor sewer system and prioritize repairs. DC Water moved this area up for emergency repair based on the inspection results.
