Manhole Repair Inside of Rock Creek Park to Begin On or About October 15

October 10, 2014

DC Water will perform rehabilitation to a manhole located inside of Rock Creek Parkway adjacent to Biltmore Street NW. This manhole serves as a critical access point to the local Combined Sewer. Crews will begin working at the site on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 with an estimated completion date of Monday, November 1, 2014, weather permitting. The work hours will be from 8:00am until 4:00pm, Monday through Friday.

Rehabilitation of the manhole will include installation of a cement base, stabilization of the ground surrounding the manhole and landscaping of the area to prevent soil erosion. Due to the need to detour the sewer during this repair, there will be installation of temporary bypass pumping on Allen Place NW and Biltmore Street NW that may impact traffic and/or parking on these streets.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
• There will be no disruption in water or sewer services during this construction
• Traffic may be impacted for the duration of this repair
• Noise and dust levels from the stationary generator needed for the bypass pumping will be closely monitored
• Contractor may work at night or on weekends, when needed

DC Water is currently working closely with NPS and DDOE to ensure minimal disruption during this project.
