January 22, 2021

The talented individuals appointed by President Biden to lead the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency means good news for water utilities everywhere, DC Water Chief Executive Officer and General Manager David L. Gadis said today.

Chief among the appointments was Radhika Fox, CEO of the US Water Alliance, who was named Principal Deputy Assistant Administrator for the EPA Office of Water.

“I have known Radhika for many years and working closely with her I can say there are few individuals as committed to water quality as she is,” Mr. Gadis said. “She understands the importance of so many other issues in our industry, from affordability to diversity. She will be a great member of the EPA team.”

Mr. Gadis made his comments after the Biden Administration this week released a list of talented individuals who will lead the EPA, which is the most important federal agency with respect to protecting water sources.

Prior to her appointment at EPA, Ms. Fox ran the US Water Alliance, a national nonprofit organization advancing policies and programs that build a sustainable water future for all. She has also worked in California doing water utility work.

Kishia L. Powell, DC Water’s Chief Operating Officer, likewise congratulates Radhika Fox on being named as a day one appointee in the Biden-Harris Administration:

“Radhika has been a powerhouse in the Water Sector advocating for equity in water management and infrastructure investments for communities everywhere. Her visionary leadership combined with the talents and dedication of EPA   professionals will no doubt bring about positive advancements to address the most pressing issues of our time.” Ms. Powell said.
