DC Water Invites You to Join Us For Losing the Lead: Your Timeline, Your Yard, Your Questions, August 26
From the first signs of construction on your block to the final steps of yard restoration, DC Water’s Lead Free DC (LFDC) program is answering residents’ top questions about the replacement process.
DC Water invites residents to join the next Lead Free DC virtual community meeting on August 26 from 7 PM – 8 PM where LFDC construction experts will explain:
- What to expect for replacement timelines
- What happens when construction begins on your block
- What to expect on replacement day
- How yards and public spaces are restored after construction
We will also provide LFDC program updates, replacement data, and ways the community can engage with the program. This is part of a quarterly series LFDC offers for the community to learn more, ask questions, and share their thoughts.

Begun in 2019, the Lead Free DC Program was created to accelerate lead service line replacements and combine all our lead reduction efforts under one banner. The goal is to replace all the city’s estimated 42,000 lead service lines with copper pipe.
It’s part of DC Water’s 10-year, $9.6 billion Capital Improvement Program, committed to upgrading our water and sewer infrastructure to provide safe, reliable service for the nation’s capital today and in the future.
