DC Water, DC Mayor Muriel Bowser, DOJ and EPA to announce update on proposed modification to the long term control plan to incorporate green infrastructure;

DC Mayor Muriel Bowser, DC Water, the U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency will provide an update on the proposed modification to DC Water’s long term control plan to significantly reduce combined sewer overflows to the Anacostia and Potomac rivers and Rock Creek. There will also be an announcement on local green jobs.

With excessive rainfall forecasted for the region DC Water and WSSC Water are actively monitoring weather conditions and implementing mitigation strategies to minimize the risk of a controlled emergency sewage overflow from the Anacostia Wastewater Pumping Station (WWPS) in Capitol Heights, Maryland.
