Nija Ali

Director, Fleet Management

Nija Ali serves the Authority as Director, Fleet Management where she is responsible for setting the overall direction of DC Water’s enterprise-wide Fleet management organization and strategy. Nija oversees and manages internal fleet operations including life-cycle management, standards and specifications, acquisitions, decommissions, maintenance and repair contract oversight, and the Fleet Management Information System. Nija’s Fleet Forward action plan brings a transparent, collaborative approach to seeking resolutions by consistently engaging with internal and external stakeholders to ascertain business needs and process improvements.

Nija has been a member of Team Blue for over 10 years, starting in the Office of Marketing and Communications, and most recently as Senior Manager, Shared Services. Throughout her career at DC Water, Nija has been recognized for her professional acumen, strategic thinking, and methodical approach. Nija served as both Lead Exposure Project Lead and Task Force Lead for COVID-19 Recovery/Return to Workplace, Chair of Women of Water (WOW) from 2020-2022 and was the recipient of the General Manager/CEO Award in 2019.

Prior to joining the Authority, Nija achieved success in the corporate, non-profit, and public sectors in communications, marketing, public relations, strategic planning, sponsorship, and diversity. As a National Urban Fellow, Nija earned a Master’s in Public Administration and is a proud Howard University Bison.
