Enjoy entertainment, activities and engage with environmental and health experts on why and how to become lead free

DC Water invites you to take the first step to be “Lead Free for Me” during our family-friendly event where you can bring the kids and discover how we are working to remove all lead water service lines in the District. The event on Saturday, October 5, will include activity zones with informational displays, a photo booth, children’s zone, and our favorite mascot Wendy the Waterdrop.

The fun and games will provide attendees with an opportunity to walk through our Lead Free DC initiative offering free lead pipe replacements, view our construction map and interactive dashboard to see if you’ve got lead pipes, and learn how to sign up for replacement or register on the spot.

“Lead pipes can cause serious health implications and it’s important for District residents to empower themselves with information to replace their lead service lines,” said DC Water CEO and General Manager David L. Gadis. “DC Water has a free replacement program, and we want to spread the word through this fun, engaging event.”

Community advocates, District leaders, and others will be available to answer questions about the risks associated with lead exposure in our community. We’re also looking for Neighborhood Block Champions to volunteer in their community to promote the LFDC program.

DC Water invites you to join us for an entertaining, educational experience. The event is open to the public and has everything you need to know about LFDC as well as face painting, trivia, and balloons for enjoyment.
