WASA URGES RESIDENTS TO RETURN WATER TEST KITS

April 15, 2004

With more than 10,000 water test kits unreturned, D. C. Water and Sewer Authority (WASA) officials are urging District residents to return their test kits as soon as possible. More than 24,500 test kits have been sent out since the beginning of the year. WASA is providing free test kits so that residents can test for lead levels in their water.

In March, WASA hired a new contractor in order to provide more efficient service and faster turn around time on test results. Test kits are now delivered and picked up by UPS.

Residents who received test kits before March 3, via Federal Express, can still call WASA’s Lead Services Hotline at 202/787-2732 to have their test kits picked up or the kits may be dropped off at one of the six drop off sites across the city.
