WASA distributes toys, books, and meals collected for HIV/AIDS Families

Background:
Over the past four years, WASA has worked closely with Bread for the Soul, Inc., a local nonprofit grassroots organization, to provide holiday relief for families affected by HIV/AIDS. WASA employees adopt approximately 50-75 families throughout the city, and collect toys, food, cash donations, and other gifts to deliver to them during the holiday season. The items are collected during the two-week period prior to the delivery date (December 17), and then staff volunteers pack the gift baskets and deliver them throughout the city to needy families that have been identified by Bread for the Soul, Inc.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Washington Aqueduct, which supplies water to DC Water, annually performs a temporary disinfectant switch from chloramine to chlorine. This year, the switch runs from March 25 to May 6. During that time, customers may notice temporary minor changes in taste and odor.
