Scheduled Water Outage for Dupont Circle Area

In an effort to improve the District of Columbia’s water distribution system, the Department of Water Services will be replacing five large diameter valves on Wednesday, October 13 beginning at approximately 8PM and continuing until Thursday morning, October 14 at 6AM.

Three 20” valves will be replaced at the intersection of 17th & R Sts. NW, one 20" valve will be replaced at the intersection of 17th & Q Sts. NW and one 8” valve will be replaced at the intersection of 17th St., New Hampshire Ave. & Swann St. NW.

The Department of Water Services will be utilizing its own crews and contractor crews in an effort to expedite work in this area. Staff have coordinated project schedules in an attempt to avoid repeated water outages and inconveniences to WASA's customers.

All impacted customers have been notified in writing that their water service will be interrupted beginning at approximately 8PM Wednesday, October 13. We anticipate that we will be able to restore water service by 6AM Thursday morning, October 14. We are dedicating considerable resources to this construction effort and will work diligently to restore water service before 6AM Thursday morning however, we ask that all impacted customers be prepared to be out of water for the entire 10 hour period.

The following locations will experience water service interruption:

West side of 17th St. NW between P & Q Sts
Both sides of New Hampshire Ave. NW between Swann & T Sts.
South side of T St. NW between New Hampshire Ave. & 16th St
Both sides of Swann St. NW between New Hampshire Ave. & 16th St.
