What Is Happening on M Street, SE?

June 21, 2012

As part of our Clean Rivers Project, DC Water contractors are preparing to install a new diversion sewer along M Street, SE between 9th and 14th Streets. We have received a number of concerns about a triangle park at 8th Street/9th Street/Potomac Avenue.

Drop shafts for the new sewer and staging heavy equipment required DC Water contractors to take over the park area during the course of the project. The primary ongoing purpose of this area will not be for the parking of personal vehicles. The bulk of the activity on the site has yet to occur.

We have notified the ANC and BID about our plans, generated traffic advisories, and gone door-to-door to affected businesses.

Any bricks, bollards, chains, trees, flowers and grass seed will be fully restored after the construction is complete. DC Water appreciates your patience. Please refer to the link below for a project information sheet and our contact information for any questions.
