Water Main Shut Down This Weekend

August 27, 2004

The Department of Water Services will be taking a large diameter (20 inch) water main out of service in support of a WASA Capital Improvement Program construction project this weekend.

Crews will be installing a new valve on Sunday, August 29, 2004, beginning at 9:00 p.m. and will conclude on Monday, August 30, 2004 at 5:00 a.m., at 49th and East Capitol Streets, NE.

A limited number of residents in the area, Southern Boundary (East Capitol Street, NE); Northern Boundary (Grant Street, NE); Eastern Boundary (47th Street, NE); and Western Boundary (60th Street, NE), will be without water while construction activities take place. WASA has directly notified these residents in writing with door hangers.

Residents with problems during this scheduled construction activity can contact the WASA 24-Hour Emergency Hotline at 612-3400.
