WASA Warns Against Unsolicited Tap Water Testing

August 01, 2007

It has come to the attention of the District of Columbia Water and Sewer Authority (WASA) that residents in the District are receiving unsolicited water testing kits, in a clear door hanger, from a company or organization offering to test their tap water. These solicitations are not sanctioned nor endorsed by WASA. The company or organization does not identify themselves nor do they provide contact information.

The drinking water that WASA distributes to homes, businesses and more than 500,000 citizens in the District of Columbia is in full compliance with federal Safe Drinking Water Act regulations for health and safety. Customers with concerns or questions about the quality of their tap water should contact the WASA Water Quality Division, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 202-612-3440 or e-mail waterquality@dcwasa.com.
