Public Notice - EPA Seeks Input on Federal Funding for Drinking Water Projects to Address Emerging Contaminants in the District of Columbia

June 27, 2023

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) invites the public to review and comment on the District of Columbia Water and Sewer Authority’s (DC Water) proposed use of federal funds to address emerging contaminants in the District of Columbia's drinking water.

DC Water’s proposal comprises two documents for public review and comment:

  • Intended Use Plan (IUP): The IUP outlines how federal funds will be distributed among projects and describes DC Water’s project ranking system. There is one (1) IUP included in this solicitation which outlines the proposed use of funds from one (1) federal funding source1.

  • Project Priority List (PPL): The PPL identifies and ranks projects that are eligible to receive federal funds based upon their contribution to protecting public health and to improving compliance with safe drinking water regulations. When developing the PPL, DC Water prioritized work in “disadvantaged communities” as defined by the White House’s Climate and Economic Justice Screening Tool.

EPA is holding a 30-day public comment period from June 20, 2023, through July 20, 2023. Comments should be submitted by July 20, 2023 to Mr. Kenneth Pantuck via email at pantuck.kenneth@epa.gov or in writing at:
