Joint Utility Discount Day (JUDD) is Tuesday September 30th

September 19, 2008

Joint Utility Discount Day is a huge annual event where low-income DC residents complete just one single application to apply for energy assistance and discounts offered by DC WASA, PEPCO, Washington Gas, and Verizon all at the same time. They may also be eligible for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).

Processors will be at the Washington Convention Center, 801 Mt. Vernon Place, NW, to help residents complete the paperwork on Tuesday Sept. 30 from 8am until 7pm.

To avoid processing delays, customers should bring:
1. Proof of household income,
2. Picture ID with social security number,
3. Recent utility bills such as oil, gas, electric, telephone and water and sewer,
4. A lease agreement or rent receipt, if heat is included.

In coordination with the utilities, the event is sponsored by the participating agencies, the District Department of the Environment (DDOE), the Office of the People’s Counsel and the DC Public Service Commission.

For more information about JUDD, call the DDOE Hotline at (202) 673-6750.

DC WASA offers discounts on water and sewer bills and also sponsors SPLASH (Serving People by Lending a Supporting Hand) a customer assistance program for residents which is funded solely by donor contributions. To donate to the SPLASH program, call (202) 354-3600 or go to https://www.dcwasa.com/splash/splash_contribution_entry.php.
