FOUR HOUR WATER SHUT-OFF IN AREA BORDERED BY NORTH CAPITAL AND LONGFELLOW TO 4TH AND MISSOURI, N.W.

A water shut-off is planned tonight between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. in the area bordered by North Capital and Longfellow Streets, N.W. to 4th St. and Missouri Ave., N.W.

DC Water and Sewer Authority crews will drain the line in preparation for fixing a leaking valve at 3d and Longfellow Streets, N.W. The leak is undermining the roadway.

The shut-off will be no longer than four hours and service will be restored by 2 a.m.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Washington Aqueduct, which supplies water to DC Water, annually performs a temporary disinfectant switch from chloramine to chlorine. This year, the switch runs from March 25 to May 6. During that time, customers may notice temporary minor changes in taste and odor.
