DC Water invites media to celebrate Drinking Water Week, May 4 - 10

DC Water and regional water utilities are highlighting the value of tap water during National Drinking Water Week, May 4 - 10. Please join us in celebrating this important public service in our nations capital.

Washington Nationals Drinking Water Week Promotion
Nationals Park, Monday, May 5, 5:30 - 8 p.m.
DC Water’s mascot, Wendy the Waterdrop, will be located on the main concourse near section 106, giving away reusable bottles and posing for photos with fans and the National’s mascots. Discounted tickets are available with the DCWATER coupon code at www.nationals.com/tickets.

Smithsonian Garden Fest: Water, Water, Everywhere
Enid A. Haupt Garden behind Smithsonian Castle, Friday, May 9, 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
This free event features live music, guest speakers, fun activities and educational demonstrations for all ages. A “water bar” will offer free water, and utilities will give away reusable bottles to promote TapIt Metro D.C.

Given recent media attention on events like the West Virginia chemical spill, drinking water issues are top of mind. During these public events, utilities will celebrate the vital role that water plays in our lives and raise awareness about the need for infrastructure investment and water supply protection. Authority Offers Virtual and In-Person Options

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Washington Aqueduct, which supplies water to DC Water, annually performs a temporary disinfectant switch from chloramine to chlorine. This year, the switch runs from March 25 to May 6. During that time, customers may notice temporary minor changes in taste and odor.
