The DC Water and Sewer Authority (DC WASA) and The DC Mayor’s Office on Latino Affairs (OLA) are co-hosting the Second Annual “FOR A BETTER HOME, FOR A BETTER COMMUNITY” informational event in the Latino community of the District on Saturday, June 6, 2009 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at All Souls Church, located at 1500 Harvard Ave., NW.

The event promotes “green” and healthy living, and provides important information on DC WASA’s customer service, water quality, fire hydrant program, billing and neighborhood construction activities. There will be demos on conservation of water, energy and natural resources. Other utilities, conservation groups, Latino services and DC agencies will be exhibiting. Additionally, La Clinica del Pueblo will offer free health screenings.

Authority Offers Virtual and In-Person Options

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Washington Aqueduct, which supplies water to DC Water, annually performs a temporary disinfectant switch from chloramine to chlorine. This year, the switch runs from March 25 to May 6. During that time, customers may notice temporary minor changes in taste and odor.
