Mr. Genes F. Malasy serves DC Water as Vice President and Controller.  He has served the Authority in several roles, most recently as Manager, Financial Reporting and Billing, since initially joining DC Water in 2014.

As Controller with the Authority, Mr. Malasy directs accounting, financial reporting, accounts payable, and payroll functions and as part of the management team uses accurate financial information to help drive efficiencies and continuous improvement across the organization.  As part of these duties, he provides leadership in developing, supporting and implementing goals in support of DC Water’s strategic plan.

Prior to DC Water, Mr. Malasy served Bazilio Cobb Associates as the lead Engagement Manager for several local government clients including the District of Columbia Water and Sewer Authority’s (DC Water) DC financial statement and single audits; the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission’s (WSSC) MD financial statement, single audits and Other Post Employment Benefits (OPEB) and long list of other local, state and nonprofit organizations.

Mr. Malasy holds a Bachelor’s degree in Finance and Accounting from the University of Maryland, and is also a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia, Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) and a Certified Internal Controls Auditor (CICA). Mr. Malasy serves as a Board Member – and Chairman of the Strategic Committee – for the Washington Chapter of the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).
