Did you flush the toilet this morning? Did you run water to brush your teeth or get a drink of water? Did you ever wonder what happens to the dirty water that goes down the drain in your house? Now is your chance to find out what happens to the water when you flush or brush.

In the picture below you see a house on the left a water treatment facility in the middle and the Potomac River on the right. Below the picture is a tray of tiles. Each tile shows one thing that happens to water when it leaves your house and is cleaned at the water treatment facility. Your job is to put the tiles in order by placing them in the path between the house and the treatment facility. (Click on the tile you want to move and drag it to the place in the path where you think it should go.) If the tile is in the correct spot it will stick where you put it. If it’s not in the right place then it will return to the tile tray at the bottom of the screen.

If you want more information on any of the pieces click on each one and you can learn more about the water treatment process that is shown on the tile.
