Rock Creek Regulator Adjustments

DC Water is designing sewer improvements and water main replacement projects in locations near Rock Creek National Park. Approximately $5 million will be invested in these projects, which will reduce combined sewer overflows into Rock Creek and restore aged water mains.

The drainage basin for this project is located west of the intersection at N St NW and 25th St NW. The drainage basin consists of roughly 10 acres of high-rise condominiums, business and various locations, including the DC Parks and Recreation Francis Pool.

Scope of Work
  • Rehabilitation of damaged sewers within the project area
  • Installation of over 1,200 feet of new storm sewers along 25th Street NW between M Street NW and N Street NW; along N Street NW between 24th Street NW and 25th Street NW; and on NPS property
  • Replacement of approximately 130 feet of existing 12-inch sanitary sewers along 25th Street NW
  • Replacement of approximately 530 feet of water mains and valves along N Street NW
  • Replacement of service lines (lead and/or other) in public space, as needed
  • Replacement of fire hydrants
Project Schedule

Design on this project was completed in November 2010. Construction activities began in March 2011 and will be completed by April 2012.

The drainage basin for this project is located along Massachusetts Avenue NW and 23rd Street NW at Sheridan Circle. This drainage basin consists of roughly five acres of private residential properties including approximately 20 foreign embassies.

The work will occur on Massachusetts Avenue NW, 23rd Street NW, Q Street NW and R Street NW, as well as a portion of the National Park Service (NPS) property adjacent to the drainage basin.

Scope of Work
  • Rehabilitation of damaged sewers within the project area
  • Installation of approximately 432 feet of new combined sewers along Q Street NW between 22nd Street NW and 23rd Street NW, and along 23rd Street NW between Sheridan Circle NW and Q Street NW
  • Replacement of approximately 2,600 feet of water mains and valves along Massachusetts Avenue NW, 23rd Street NW and R Street NW
  • Replacement of service lines (lead and/or other) in public space, as needed
  • Replacement of fire hydrants
Project Schedule

Design on this project was completed in November 2010. Construction activities began in March 2011 and will be completed by June 2012.

The drainage basin for this project is located along Calvert Street NW between 24th Street NW and Cleveland Avenue NW. This drainage basin consists of roughly seven acres of residential and commercial properties, including the Omni Shoreham Hotel.

The work will occur on Calvert Street NW and 28th Street NW, as well as a portion of the National Park Service (NPS) property adjacent to the drainage basin.

Scope of Work
  • Rehabilitation of damaged sewers within the project area
  • Rehabilitation of 209 feet of 18-inch sewer mains
  • Rehabilitation of 140 feet of 15-inch sewer mains
  • Rehabilitation of 227 feet of 12-inch sewer mains
  • Separation of combined sewer at the intersection of Cleveland Avenue NW and Calvert Street NW
Project Schedule

Design on this project was completed in November 2010. Construction activities began in March 2011 and will be completed by August 2012.
