Pope Branch Stream Restoration And Sewer Replacement Project

DC Water is designing sewer rehabilitation and stream restoration projects around Pope Branch, a stream located in southeast DCs Pope Branch Park. Over $4 million will be invested in this project which will restore Pope Branch stream to a natural, sustainable water-way, while replacing aged sewer infrastructure that currently runs parallel to the stream.

Scope of Work

  • Installation of approximately 1,335 feet of 12-inch sewer mains
  • Installation of approximately 1,490 feet of 18-inch sewer mains
  • Installation of 13 new sewer manholes in the project area
  • Replacement and/or rehabilitation of four storm sewer outfalls

Schedule

Construction is anticipated to start in August 2012 and will be completed by July 2014.
