What We Do
Low Area Trunk Sewer Rehabilitation Project
As part of its Capital Improvement Program, the District of Columbia Water and Sewer Authority (DC Water) is performing sewer rehabilitation projects throughout the city. This project involves the rehabilitation of the Low Area Trunk Sewer, a 42-inch diameter brick and concrete pipe which extends from 13th Street NW and Pennsylvania Avenue NW to 2nd Street SE and M Street SE.

Scope of Work
Rehabilitation of the Low Area Trunk Sewer will be performed in four phases. These are as follows:
- Phase 1 - Assessment of the current condition of the sewer and manholes using a truck-mounted closed-circuit television camera and supporting equipment to inspect and clean the sewer and manholes
- Phase 2 - Evaluation and verification of inspection and other data
- Phase 3 - Design of rehabilitation plan for the sewer based upon data evaluation
- Phase 4 - Construction of rehabilitation design to prolong the life of the sewer
Schedule
Construction on this project is scheduled to start in spring 2013 and be completed by fall 2014.
