What We Do
DC Water is committed to providing customers with the highest-quality drinking water by ensuring that the water meets or surpasses federal Safe Drinking Water Act standards and by providing the most reliable service possible.
Water is treated at the Washington Aqueduct treatment plants. DC Water works closely with the Aqueduct to ensure that the water leaving the plant meets federal water quality standards. In addition, DC Water collects daily tap water samples throughout the city to monitor water quality in the distribution system.
