Communications Manager
Pamela Mooring is Communications Manager at the District of Columbia Water and Sewer Authority (DC Water). In this capacity, she serves as an agency spokesperson and develops media responses on critical topics, also providing expertise in crisis communication and issues management. In addition, she plans communications campaigns and writes for: publications, website, media relations and industry publications. She also plans and executes press conferences and pitches story ideas to national, regional, local and trade media.
With nearly 20 years in the field of public relations/public affairs and marketing, Ms. Mooring has extensive experience in all areas of communications and marketing. She most recently served as Director of Public Relations and Marketing at the YMCA of Central Maryland where she managed strategic communications and marketing campaigns. She directly oversaw publications, websites, special events, marketing activities, graphic design and editorial, media relations, crisis communications and issues management, while heading up the department and supervising headquarters staff, as well as providing guidance to the Marketing Directors at each YMCA branch. Prior, Ms. Mooring was the Manager of Marketing and Communications at the Immune Deficiency Foundation. Previous employment includes public relations engagements in hospital, PR agency, utility and consulting arenas.
Ms. Mooring holds a BA in communication with an emphasis in public relations, an MA in Publications Design and has completed coursework towards an MBA with specializations in management and marketing. She is also Accredited in Public Relations (APR).
