DC Water Cares
DC Water employees volunteer in, and contribute to, activities and fundraisers to improve the quality of life in the community. The following are just a few examples of how our employees get involved every day:
Bread for the Soul
DC Water has worked with Bread for the Soul, Inc., a local nonprofit organization, since 2001. In addition to adopting families during the holidays and providing them with toys, food and other gifts, employees have provided holiday relief for families affected by HIV/AIDS.
Educational Activities
Stop by a high school in the District of Columbia and you may see DC Water employees speaking at career days or serving as judges at science competitions. In addition, DC Water employees encourage students to take tours of the Blue Plains Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant, as well as learn more about water treatment through the popular Sewer Science Program. Or for large events, you can look into our Water Conservation Program (both are described in more detail in the "Consumer Services & Outreach section of this site), which includes a rolling water-conservation display that allows DC Water plumbing experts to demonstrate ways to conserve water in your home, using the kitchen sink, shower, and toilet.
Joint Utility Discount Day
Local utilities join together to offer eligible residents discounts on their utility bills. DC Water employees are on hand to talk to residents and assist with applications, conduct demonstrations of in-home water conservation techniques, and distribute water conservation kits.
Bill Payment Assistance
DC Water offers the several programs to help eligible individuals pay their water and sewer bills if they are experiencing financial difficulties. Visit the Customer Assistance page in the "Consumer Services & Outreach" section to learn more.
